I want to help 100 Miami based entrepreneurs owners in 2019

Taking control of your business is important if you want to see success. As a business advisor, I consult with successful businesses and entrepreneurs who have that twinkle in their eyes about a particular idea. The latter are my favorite types of people to interact with while advising.

Miami still has a long way to go in terms of big jobs

2018 had some major news for the Miami business ecosystem. Amazon was on the hunt for their 2nd headquarters outside of Seattle, Washington. Personally, I have never made it to Seattle but I know they don’t have the beaches as we do and I will pass for now. Furthermore, who would want to leave the sun and fun for rainy gloomy days but the hopes of running into Jeff Bezo’s? I’d rather run into Puff Daddy at LIV nightclub but I digress. Miami lost the battle to the DMV and NYC areas respectively; unsurprisingly because both markets have a lot to offer. Miami has a long way to go if they want to be taken seriously in the big jobs market.

How I am helping the Miami ecosystem

As mentioned before; I was hired by Magnitax.com to be a business advisor and accountant. It took me a while to step away from my startup pursuits to do something most people shy away from doing. Accounting isn’t as sexy as being a web developer, in contrast, we are still in high demand and it really does not take a 3-month course to be taken seriously. At this moment, our business owners need to build financially sound and legacy businesses. This would help with creating some of the infrastructures large corporations need to employ staff members. Think about it; if high-skilled workers come to a city; shouldn’t there be successful businesses waiting to provide a high level of services. The best way to do that is if businesses are started with a sound foundation built in healthy financials, marketing plan, and overall healthy business climate.

There is no silver bullet to Miami’s brain drain

In 2014 I left Miami for a role with an investment firm in Jacksonville, Florida. If you asked me then why I took the job it would be based on the lack of serious roles in Miami. I’m unaware of everyone’s job and how much they make. However, I can say with certainty that Miami has a shadow economy. It probably would take a Ph.D. in economics for me to give solid proof but for right now, I will explain in three sentences. Miami has a tendency to hire senior-level employees from other cities or countries. Most of the employees here support the following employers; Miami-Dade College, Miami-Dade Public School System, and Miami-Dade County government. Everyone else works for a large corporation with offices here or a company with less than 20 employees. If you are lucky, a good job will be available but most people do not wait that long before leaving. Something has to change quickly, I pray to be part of the solution.

I can say with certainty that Miami has a shadow economy. It probably would take a Ph.D. in economics for me to give solid proof but for right now, I will explain in three sentences.

WhoIsDésir | Future Talk 2019 | Jean-Désir speaks

This namesake was created over 10 years ago while in undergrad thinking about how to differentiate my brand in the marketplace. Ironically, Sean”Diddy” Combs had a Twitter handle of IAmDiddy around 2008 and I felt at the time, nobody knew me. Fast forward to 2018 and I have created events, workshops, a business and more out of the brand. I plan on doing more because that is what bosses do.

What the rest of 2018 looks like for me

I plan on taking a break from all events and activities that are not centered around my profession. As a financial service professional, I want to be there for my clients and events sometimes take away from what they desire most; which is a competent advisor. You can still reach me for possible consultation via email (jean at jeandfilsjr dot com)

What is in it for you being part of The Lifestyle Connoisseur family?

For starters, I can produce content that is important to me; which are my ebooks, guides, videos and talks that cover investing, small business and motivation. It seems this arena is rife with individuals who have microphones but don’t possess a microscope to provide tools to change the lives of those who follow their lead. The Black Excellence Brunch 2019 call for partners

Since I will be focusing on 2019, I will need some partners to help me fully realize my ideas. The first need that I request would be solid partners who understand what it means to produce events at a large scale. You do not need to be locally based in Miami, Florida but it may require you visiting every now and then ensure your investment is realized. If you want to learn more about partnering with me and my team, click here.

See you in 2019!

For instance, music artists Jay-Z (Sean Carter) and Beyonce (Beyoncé Knowles-Carter) have demonstrated investing in three key areas that stand out to me:

Their personal brands (Jay-Z and Beyonce have delved into politics, Hillary Clinton 2016 campaign)
Business (Equity positions in D’Usse for Jay-Z)
Intellectual Property, i.e. (Tidal and more)
